Dhanbad, August 4: The Jharkhand chapter of the Junior Doctors Network (JDN) has strongly condemned what it termed as baseless allegations and a false case against resident doctors at AIIMS Patna.

In a statement released today, JDN announced plans to launch a peaceful protest across Jharkhand in solidarity with their counterparts in Bihar.

General Secretary of JDN Jharkhand, Dr. Raghvendra Kumar, demanded the immediate withdrawal of the FIR lodged against AIIMS Patna doctors and warned that such actions are unacceptable. He added that doctors across Jharkhand will wear black ribbons as a mark of protest during their duties.

Alleged Assault Incident at AIIMS Patna

According to JDN, the incident occurred around 11 PM on July 30, when Dr. Ayushi Singh, wife of MLA Chetan Anand, allegedly assaulted resident doctors on duty with the help of her bodyguards. Reports suggest she had come to meet a patient at the hospital.

Subsequently, MLA Chetan Anand also reached the hospital with a group of supporters and allegedly assaulted the security staff. Despite repeated directions from the Supreme Court to ensure the safety and dignity of healthcare professionals, such attacks continue to occur in Bihar and Jharkhand, Dr. Raghvendra noted, calling for urgent systemic reforms.

JDN Demands FIR Withdrawl

JDN Jharkhand announced its support following a request from the IMA Bihar chapter. “We urge all medical college representatives in Jharkhand to actively participate and issue press statements to amplify our collective voice,” said Dr. Raghvendra.

He stressed the need to withdraw the FIR immediately and ensure a safe, respectful, and secure working environment for doctors—not only in Patna or Jharkhand but across the country.

MSN Seeks National Support

Meanwhile, Central Zone Medical Students Network (MSN) coordinator Aman Kumar Singh from RIMS Ranchi has written to the MSN national body, urging it to stand firmly with AIIMS Patna resident doctors and raise the issue at all possible forums.

“This is not just a local matter of Patna but reflects a larger pattern of threats to doctors’ security across the country,” Aman Kumar Singh emphasized.
