Dhanbad, January 24: Kolhan University (KU) Chaibasa will appoint need-based subordinate staff on the pattern of need-based assistant professors to cater to the requirements of the campus.
In this regard, higher authorities of Kolhan University have sent a proposal to the Higher Education Department for approval. If permission is granted, this will be the first time in the University of Jharkhand where subordinate staff would be appointed need-based.

When contacted on Wednesday morning, Kolhan University acting registrar Dr Rajendra Bharti admitted that the acting vice-chancellor had sent a proposal to the HRD.
Shortage of subordinate staff
“The University is reeling under an acute shortage of subordinate staff ( 3rd- and 4th-grade staff. The crisis is growing day by day following the retirement of staff. So, the University has written to the HRD to approve appointing staff on the recruitment pattern of need-based Assistant Professors,” said acting registrar Dr Bharti.
Need-based assistant professors
Since universities and colleges across the state face a shortage of faculty members, need-based assistant professors are being appointed in crisis-ridden institutions to cater to students’ needs.
The registrar, Dr Bharti, said that the University has also started hiring a workforce through an online process amidst transparency. “Computer operators, drivers, gardeners and other vacant posts need immediate recruitment. So, we have started filling up process transparently so that crisis does not persist,” said Dr Bharti.
