Ranchi, Dec 5: Chief Minister Hemant Soren said Jharkhand is setting the benchmark for tribal empowerment as he met representatives from several states, highlighting the state’s focus on education, culture and natural harmony.
Welcoming tribal representatives from several states at his residential complex on Kanke Road today, he said that the land of Jharkhand has always been a symbol of bravery, self-respect and struggle, and that the legacy of heroes like Dharti Aba Bhagwan Birsa Munda and Dishem Guru Shibu Soren continues to guide the identity of tribal communities.
Jharkhand Government Focuses on Culture, Education and Natural Balance
The Chief Minister said the Jharkhand government is fully committed to protecting tribal culture, identity and rights. He noted that the state is working continuously to promote social, intellectual and educational growth among tribal communities. Jharkhand has become the first state in India where tribal students are pursuing higher education abroad with government support, a step that he said has brought new hope and confidence to young people.

He added that tribal life is deeply connected with nature, and environmental protection has always been part of the community’s lifestyle. However, he warned that modern-day tampering with nature has increased disasters such as floods, droughts and landslides. Maintaining balance with nature is therefore a collective responsibility.
Unity and Self-Reliance Key to Tribal Empowerment
Hemant Soren said that all-round empowerment of tribal communities is possible only through unity and self-reliance. He called for strengthening weaker sections of society and ensuring that every community moves forward with confidence and awareness. Tribal representatives from various states praised the steps taken by the Jharkhand government and assured full cooperation.
Soren to Lead Public Outreach for Tribal Rights
The Chief Minister appreciated the representatives for their long-term efforts and said he would take an active role in a national-level public outreach campaign to protect the existence and rights of tribal communities. He said the aim is to ensure that tribal issues become part of India’s main political agenda, showing that tribal people are not scattered groups but a united community moving towards a stronger future.
Representatives from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Assam, West Bengal, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Manipur were present. They said that initiatives taken in Jharkhand have given new energy to tribal communities across the country. All participants paid tribute to Dishem Guru Shibu Soren for his lifelong struggle and contribution.
Minister Deepak Birua, Minister Chamra Linda, MLA Kalpana Soren and a large number of representatives from different states attended the event.
