Dhanbad, May 25: Dhanbad registered a 41.64 % poll in six hours of voting and massive queues of voters were seen at almost all booths in the constituency.
Dhanbad Returning Officer (RO) Madhvi Mishra (deputy commissioner) told media persons that 41.64 % of polling was registered in the constituency till 1 pm. No untoward incident was reported from any of the Dhanbad- Bokaro-based booths.
Voting peaceful
Earlier in the morning, voting started at all 2539 booths peacefully and timely at 7 am amidst tight security. Voters were seen in large numbers especially women at all urban and rural booths. Even in the Naxal-influenced Tundi block of the district (which falls in the Giridih Lok Sabha area) high turn-up was seen.

As per district electoral officer Madhvi Mishra, in the first two hours (till 9 am) 11.75% of polling was registered. Similarly, at 11 am 26.06% of polling was registered in the Dhanbad Lok Sabha area.
The momentum of voting continued till 1 pm. The highest 44.97 % was recorded in Sindri, 44.29% in Naxal-affected Tundi, 43.83% Nirsa, 42.83% in Baghmara, 38.67% in Jharia and 36.79% in Dhanbad.
A total of 25 candidates are in the fray on Dhanbad Lok Sabha seat.
