Jamshedpur, May 25: The fate of candidates was sealed in EVMs with the voting for Lok Sabha elections for the Jamshedpur parliamentary seat coming to an end today.
In all 25 candidates were in the fray including BJP ‘s Vidyut Baran Mahato and JMM’s Samir Mohanty.
Despite hot and humid weather, a good turnout of voters was reported in various polling booths under the prestigious Jamshedpur Lok Sabha seat.

A total of 64.30 per cent voting took place in the Jamshedpur LS seat. Voting took place between 7 am and 5 pm.
According to figures available, the highest voting took place in the Baharagora assembly constituency which recorded 70.25 per cent followed by Ghatsila at 68.16 per cent, Jugsalai at 67.59 per cent, Jamshedpur East at 56.66 per cent and Jamshedpur West recorded 56.34 per cent.

Low turnout in urban areas
Despite much effort, there has been comparatively low voting in the urban areas of Jamshedpur whereas rural areas witnessed a high voting percentage.
Apart from Baharagora, Potka also reported more than 70 per cent voting.
The district administration will release the final figures tomorrow.
All EVMs will now be kept in the strong room of Jamshedpur Co-operative College.
The counting of votes will take place on June 4.
Odisha Governor Raghubar Das casts vote
Former chief minister and Governor of Odisha, Raghubar Das, arrived in the city last night to cast his vote.
Early in the morning, accompanied by his wife, he came to at Booth No. 21, Harijan Middle School, Bhalubasa, to cast his vote.
His presence underscored the importance of participating in the democratic process, irrespective of adverse weather condition.
Jharkhand Health Minister Banna Gupta casts vote
Banna Gupta, state health and disaster management minister and a senior Congress leader, also made his presence felt.
He along with his spouse and son, exercised franchise at their respective polling booths.
Gupta’s involvement highlighted the significance of family participation in elections, reinforcing the role of every individual in shaping the nation’s future.
Tata Steel MD casts vote
Tata Steel managing director TV Narendran along with his spouse Ruchi Narendran came to vote at Loyola School.
They proudly displayed their inked fingers after exercising their franchise. It was a model centre and the couple were greeted with red roses.
As the day progressed, residents came out of their homes and headed for polling booths to cast their votes.
