Ranchi, March 12: Independent MLA from Jamshedpur (east) Saryu Roy today wrote a letter to Speaker Rabindranath Mahto seeking action against IMA Jamshedpur president GC Manjhi and Secretary Saurabh Choudhary.
Both had raised objections to a question about a doctor raised by Roy in the State Assembly.
Question about Dr Jujhar Manjhi and Dr Renuka Chaudhary
In his letter, Roy, who defeated the then Chief Minister Raghubar Das in the 2019 Assembly elections, said he had raised a question about Dr Jujhar Manjhi and Dr Renuka Chaudhary on March 1. “I sought to know about Dr Renuka Chaudhary’s fake signature on the attendance register when she was absent from duty. The government’s answer was misleading and intentionally suppressed the facts. He also wrote a letter to the Speaker on March 2,” he has pointed out.
Objections to MLA’s question
The MLA said, “After that, the IMA Jamshedpur president and secretary objected to his question in the Assembly at a press conference and wrote a letter to the State IMA president, Dr AK Singh.”
A challenge to MLA’s rights
Roy has pointed out that both the IMA office-bearers have challenged a legislator’s right to ask questions in the State Assembly.
“Dr Saurabh Chaudhary is the son of Dr Renuka Chaudhary, and the charges levelled against him were baseless and humiliating,” he said.
Roy later said that the Speaker has assured to take action in this regard.
What is the case?
According to Roy, Dr Renuka Chaudhary, who retired in 2011, remained absent from duty from 01.09.1995 to 07.05.2001 and from 08.05.2001 to 17.01.2006. She also withdrew her salary during one period of absence by fake signing the attendance register.
“A three-member investigation committee later recommended recovery of salary from her pension. However, the documents related to Dr Chaudhary went missing, and the clerk who was the custodian of the files concerned was also murdered. BJP MLA CP Singh had raised a question about it a year back. The government had then assured that the persons responsible for missing the file would be identified and punished,” Roy has said in his letter.
The MLA has further said that the government did not take any action.
“Instead, in response to his question during the budget session, the government simply said, ‘The action will be taken following the high court order in a writ petition filed by Dr Renuka Chaudhary.’
