Dhanbad, June 11: Altogether 16 associate professors of four medical colleges of the state were overlooked for promotion to the post of professor despite fulfilling the required eligibility.

Among 16 deprived associate professors highest 11 belong to Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad, two each at Medinirai Medical College Hospital (MMCH) Palamu and Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) Hazaribagh and one at Phulo Jhanho Medical College Hospital (PJMCH) Dumka.

Jharkhand govt has promoted 27 associate professors

On Monday, the state government promoted a total of 27 associate professors from five medical colleges to the post of professor in which highest 17 promoted teachers were from Mahatma Gandhi Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH) Jamshedpur, followed by 4 from SBMCH Hazaribagh,  3 from PJMCH Dumka,  2  from  SNMMCH Dhanbad and one of MMCH Palamu.

Dr SK Singh, director of the medical education wing of the health department, when contacted, said that for some reason some names have been missed but a supplementary list of promotions would be issued soon. “The government is serious about filling up vacant posts,” he said.

 Deserving principal denied promotion

The most glaring missing is the name of MMCH Palamu’s principal Dr Kamendra Prasad. MMCH has 3 associate professors out of which only one Dr Dharmendra Kumar ( eye)  has been given a promotion. Dr Kamendra Prasad and Dr Dharmendra Kumar Jha have been overlooked.

At SBMCH Hazaribagh, Superintendent Dr Binod Kumar has also been denied promotion.  Principal Dr SK Singh said the college had six associate professors of which four were promoted. Dr Binod Kumar and Dr Biswas will get their due soon.

PJMCH Dumka had four associate professors of which three were promoted and only Dr Alok Kumar (ENT) has been ignored.

At SNMMCH Dhanbad, 13 associate professors deserved for promotion but only two, Dr Dinesh Kumar Gandauria ( surgery ) and Dr Rajlaxm Tubitt ( gynaecology)  got a promotion.

11 associate professors, Dr Sunil Kumar Verma ( HoD biochemistry), Dr Uday Shankar Prasad ( eye), Dr UN Verma ( anesthesia), Dr Sunil Sinha, Dr Vijay Pratap Singh ( ortho), Dr Anil Kumar, Dr T Bhakhala ( surgery), Dr MK Dubey, Dr LB Tudu ( medicine), Dr Rajkumar Prasad (pathology) all have long pending promotion due but they have been denied.

MGMMCH principal Dr NK Singh said that since posts were not sanctioned, some deserving associate professors in surgery and other departments also did not get promotions.
