Jamshedpur, August 27: Members of nine Rotary Clubs from the Kolhan region took to the streets of Sakchi today in a rally protesting the recent murder of a female doctor in Kolkata on August 9th. The demonstrators later met with the local Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ananya Mittal, to voice their demands for stronger government action against such crimes.

Representatives from Jamshedpur West, Jamshedpur Green, Chaibasa Rotary Club, Jamshedpur Rotary Club Main, Jamshedpur Dalma Rotary Club, Jamshedpur Mid Town, Rotary Club Jamshedpur Femina, Rotary Club Jamshedpur Steel City, and Rotary Club Jamshedpur East were present at the rally. They emphasized that crimes against women, particularly those targeting medical professionals, are unacceptable and must be met with the strictest legal measures.

Rotary members present collectively signed letter to DC

In their meeting with DC, the Rotary members presented a collectively signed letter urging the government to implement measures to prevent such incidents in society. They also called for enhanced security arrangements and special facilities for doctors in hospitals to ensure their safety.

“This tragic incident is a stark reminder of the dangers faced by women, especially those in the medical field. We must take action to prevent such crimes and protect those who serve our society,” said a representative from the Jamshedpur Rotary Club Main.

Mittal assured the group that he would bring their concerns to the attention of higher authorities and stressed the importance of safeguarding the safety of doctors and other vulnerable professionals.

The Rotary Clubs of Kolhan have pledged to continue their advocacy efforts, pushing for stronger protective measures for doctors and increased awareness of the need to combat violence against women.
