Latehar, Jan 23: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Palamu has arrested Suresh Ram, a Revenue Sub-Inspector and the in-charge Circle Inspector of Barwadih, on charges of accepting a bribe in exchange for issuing a land revenue receipt. He was taken into custody and brought to Palamu.

According to a press release issued by the Police Superintendent and the regional office of the Anti-Corruption Bureau in Palamu, the complainant reported that she had purchased 30 decimal of land in 2024. Upon seeking assistance from Suresh Ram for the land mutation, he demanded a bribe of one lakh rupees to issue the revenue receipt. He also offered the option of paying in installments if she was unable to pay the full amount upfront.

Ram further insisted that if she paid 20,000 rupees immediately, her work would be completed. The complainant, however, was unwilling to engage in the bribe and filed a formal complaint. After receiving the application, the Anti-Corruption Bureau in Palamu conducted an investigation, verifying the allegations with the assistance of the Deputy Superintendent of Police.

Once the claims were substantiated, the Anti-Corruption Bureau registered a case under Section 7(A) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, with case number 01/2025, dated January 11, 2025.

Today, a raiding team, operating under the presence of a magistrate and an independent witness, apprehended Suresh Ram red-handed while accepting a bribe of 20,000 rupees.
