Jamshedpur, May 9: BJP state president and former chief minister Babulal Marandi’s helicopter had to make emergency landing at the Sonari aerodrome due to inclement weather on Thursday late afternoon.
The BJP leader’s chopper made the emergency landing soon after taking off from Kharsawan in the face of a rainy storm that swept across the region.
Marandi had been to Kharsawan to address a public meeting there. He was supposed to fly to Dumka to address another public meeting. But a little after the chopper had taken off from Kharsawan, the flying machine had started shaking in the mid-air due to the storm, causing the pilot to get edgy.

Fortunately, the good sense prevailed in the mind of the pilot who promptly decided to land the chopper at the Sonari aerodrome.
According to sources, soon after the chopper landed at the aerodrome, Marandi intimated the party functionaries at Jamshedpur, leading several key activists, including Abhay Singh, Rajkumar Shrivastav, Anil Singh, Harendra Pandey and Sudhanshu Ojha reached the aerodrome and heaved a sigh of relief on seeing the former chief minister healthy and hefty.
Later, Marandi during his brief stay at the Sonari aerodrome interacted with the BJP’s local functionaries and took stock of the party’s election campaign here in Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituency.
