Dhanbad, Oct 5: In a significant development ahead of the Platinum Jubilee celebration of BIT Sindri, USA-based alumnus Dr KP Singh has committed to establishing a clean energy research centre at the institution, with an investment of ₹100 crores.

BIT Sindri’s Director Dr Pankaj Rai announced that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed in November between BIT Sindri and Hallteck International Nuclear Power Plant, led by Dr Singh.

Know Dr KP Singh

Dr KP Singh, a 1967 graduate in mechanical engineering from BIT Sindri, is the founder and CEO of Hallteck International Nuclear Power Plant. The proposed research centre will function as an autonomous body and will be named the Krishna Pal Singh Clean Energy Research Centre.

Dr KP Singh, a former professor at NASA and the University of Florida, has extensive experience in the field. Originally from Lakhisarai, Bihar, Dr Singh operates 28 industries across various countries.

During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to the USA, he invited Dr Singh to invest in India.

Notably, Dr Singh donated $1 million to the Prime Minister’s Care Fund during the COVID-19 pandemic, underscoring his commitment to social responsibility.

Dr KP Singh to be chief guest at Platinum Jubilee

Dr Pankaj Rai noted that negotiations regarding this research centre had been going on for some time, particularly during Dr DK Singh’s tenure as director of BIT.

“Negotiation with Dr KP Singh on the research centre had been on for a long time when Dr DK Singh (vice-chancellor of Jharkhand University of Technology) was director of BIT. Dr KP Singh is arriving in Ranchi on October 12 to attend the JUT convocation as a chief guest,” he stated.

Furthermore, he will be the chief guest at the Platinum Jubilee celebration of BIT Sindri, scheduled for November 17.

MoU to provide training and research chance in USA

The institute, founded in 1949, will celebrate its Platinum Jubilee on November 17, 2024. This initiative represents a valuable gift from an alumnus on this momentous occasion.

The BIT Sindri Alumni Association aims to hold 75 national and international seminars worldwide to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee year.

Under the MoU, senior faculty members and students from BIT Sindri will have the opportunity to conduct research and receive training at the University of Florida in the USA.
