Dhanbad, Oct 18: The Civil Engineering Department at BIT Sindri organised an expert lecture titled “Water Entrepreneurship: Possibilities and Way Forward” today, marking the countdown to its platinum jubilee celebration next month.

Dr Harinarayan Tiwari, managing director of Floodkon Consultants LLP and advisor to Pandt Soft Solutions Private Limited, served as the chief speaker. In his address, he informed faculty members and students on how to achieve true success in the field.
He stated, “Set time-bound goals, stay flexible, and have faith in your vision. Embrace failure as a learning opportunity and combine these elements for a winning formula.”
Dr Tiwari also covered significant topics such as water technology, water pollution, climate change, upstream submergence, flood modelling, flood monitoring, and food resilience.
Dr Pankaj Rai, director of BIT Sindri, honoured Dr Tiwari with a token of appreciation for his contributions to the field. The head of the Civil Engineering department, Dr Jitu Kujur, formally introduced the chief guest.

Know Dr Harinarayan Tiwari
Dr Tiwari, who earned his master’s degree with a gold medal and a PhD in Water Resources Development and Management from IIT Roorkee, has pioneered initiatives like SOCH and the Floodkon Practicum Program, significantly enhancing water conservation and industry readiness.
He has managed over 93 prime consultancy projects and served as a technical consultant for the Ministry of Jal Shakti. Additionally, he is the founder of ‘Pani Teri Kahani,’ a magazine that offers comprehensive insights into water-related issues.
The session concluded with Dr Brahmadev Yadav expressing heartfelt gratitude to the director, guests, faculty, and students for their roles in making the event a success. Prof. Prafulla Kumar Sharma presented Dr Tiwari with a memento of honour.
Senior professors, including Prof. (Dr.) Udai Kumar Singh, Dr Maya Rajnarayan Ray, Dr Nishikant Kisku, Dr Komal Kumari, Dr Abhijit Anand, Prof. Iqbal Sheikh, Prof. Saroj Meena, and Prof. Prashant Ranjan Malviya, contributed to the event’s resounding success.
