Dhanbad, May 21: The Eco Club of BIT Sindri students has launched an eco-wheel campaign to promote eco-friendly transport on the campus and to reduce carbon emissions.

100 cycles for students

Under this ambitious campaign in the first phase, 100 cycles have been provided to students for negotiating between the hostel and classroom. The ECO Club has launched this project on the initiative of 1992 batch alumni under Dr Pranay Kumar.

Promoting cycle transportation

BIT Sindri Director Dr Pankaj Rai while inaugurating the campaign highly appreciated the members of Eco Club and said that this initiative (promoting cycle transportation) would not only help in creating an eco-friendly environment on the campus but also assist techies in maintaining the fitness of the body.

“Using cycle on the campus is a noble way of reducing carbon emission and gives extra energy to the body,” said Dr Rai.

Dr Yadav gave special thanks to Eco Club founder Dr Pranay Kumar who made the concept of this ambitious project and motivated the members to execute it. On the occasion, BIT Sindri general warden Prof RK Verma was also present.

Eco Club president Yogesh Kumar Saw said that the present major issue is saving the environment. “Being engineers our mission is to promote sustainable development.  For the promotion of sustainable development, Eco Club has launched this project,” he added.
