Dhanbad, July 18: A history-sheeter criminal identified as Shankar Rawani was gunned down in the Sector-9 area under the Hurladih police station area of Bokaro district on Thursday morning.

A police official said the incident occurred at around 8.30 am. Shankar Rawani was cleaning his SUV car near Hatia More when killers came on bike and car and sprayed bullets on him. As Shankar fell, one of the criminals fired on his head with a revolver from close range. After the incident criminals fled away.

He was immediately admitted to the hospital where the doctor declared him brought dead.

As news of the incident spread, people in large numbers blocked Birsa Chowk. in a protest demanding arresting of killers.

Sources said he was accused of a murder case and eight months ago a criminal had fired on him. Shankar Rawani was associated with the coal loading business in Bokaro Steel and professional rivalry is believed the reason behind the incident.

BJP MP Dhulu Mahto lashes out at Bokaro SP

Shankar Rawan is said close to newly Dhanbad BJP MP Dhulu Mahto. After getting information Dhulu Mahto reached the house of  Shankar Rawani and lashed out at Bokaro Superintendent of Police (SP) Pujya Prakash.

Dhulu Mahto while talking with media persons on the spot alleged that  the SP is giving protection to Cong lMLA Anup Singh in coal trading.

“I had  asked the SP to protect Shankar Rawani but he ignored  and did not conduct a probe resulting in Shankar Rawani being shot dead,” said Dhulu Mahto

The newly elected MP charged that SP Pujya Prakash becomes active in small cases but sleeps on file in serious incidents. He also talked with a senior police officer of the state demanding the removal of Bokaro SP.

Bokaro SP did not receive the calls despite repeated attempts to get his comment.
