Jharkhand News: Bokaro range IG inspects colliery clash in Dhanbad

Dhanbad, Jan 10: Inspector General (IG) of Police, Bokaro Range, Michael Raj, along with Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Surendra Kumar Jha and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) HP Janardhan, conducted an inspection at Babudih Colliery, the site of a violent clash that left SDPO Purushottam Kumar Singh seriously injured.

The IG also visited the office of Giridih MP Chandra Prakash Choudhary (AJSU) in the Kharkhari area under the Madhuban police station limits. The office had been set on fire by a group of individuals on Thursday following the clash.

During the inspection, IG Raj gathered details of the incident and issued directives to launch raids to apprehend those involved.

Details of the Violent Clash

The clash erupted over the construction of a boundary wall by an outsourcing company at the Kharkhari Colliery of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL). SDPO Purushottam Kumar Singh sustained severe injuries after being struck by stones during the altercation.

The violent confrontation involved the use of bombs and firearms, resulting in several injuries and the destruction of over a dozen motorcycles.

Chief Minister’s Intervention

The state police intensified their actions after Chief Minister Hemant Soren took cognizance of the incident. He directed the authorities to ensure strict action against those responsible for the violence and the SDPO’s injury.

Efforts are underway to hold the perpetrators accountable.
