From Modest Roots to Big Dreams

Dev, son of schoolteacher Budheshwar Gorai and tailor Shobha Devi, grew up in a modest household where education remained a priority despite financial constraints. A meritorious student, he was among the top performers in the Jharkhand Board examinations in 2018.

Facing financial challenges, Dev began teaching local students while continuing his studies at St. Xavier’s Inter College. Managing two batches of nearly 30 students each, he supported himself while building confidence, discipline and leadership skills.

Coveted Overseas Placement

His breakthrough came after clearing a competitive selection process conducted by Tata Steel Technical Institute, where he secured the sole overseas opportunity. In 2026, he joined VSC Construction Steel Solutions Limited in Hong Kong with a monthly salary of around ₹2.08 lakh, along with additional benefits.

Inspiration for Youth

Dev’s achievement is a proud moment for his family and ITI Tamar and reflects the growing impact of skill-based education. His journey from a small village to an international career stands as a strong example of determination, hard work and opportunity.
