Jamshedpur, April 24: Tata Steel has launched Version 2 of its Excellence in Education Programme at Kerala Samajam Model School, reinforcing its focus on holistic student development.

The upgraded initiative targets five key skill areas identified in consultation with school principals. The first module focuses on social and cultural learning.

Session Highlights Tribal Heritage

The session was conducted by Jiren Topno of the Tata Steel Foundation in the presence of Pratik, James Minz and Boipoi, with support from Vidya Battiwala and Kajal Patel.

Around 340 students and teachers from 17 schools attended the programme, which offered insights into Jharkhand’s tribal heritage. Topno spoke about tribal diversity, languages, governance systems, cultural practices and education patterns.

A key theme of the session was the deep respect tribal communities have for nature, highlighting conservation of flora and fauna and the need to protect natural resources.

His engaging presentation kept the audience involved throughout the 75-minute session.

Step Towards Student Development

The initiative was appreciated as a meaningful effort to develop socially aware and culturally informed students for the 2026–27 academic year.
