Daltonganj July 14: A neighbour’s highly sophisticated sensor CCTV camera and its alarm and equally sharp and swift Tiger cops, foiled a major bid to steal cash from the Belwatika branch of the Jharkhand Rajya Gramin (JRG) Bank on the intervening night of Saturday/ Sunday.
Had that neighbour living in close proximity to this branch not had his most advanced CCTV camera and alarm system, the police could have never known the thieves’ plan to steal.
Police recovered a gas cutter along with an oxygen cylinder and a couple of tools like screw drivers and wrenches etc.

Officer in charge of the town outpost, 2 Rakesh Kumar Singh, said the neighbour did a great job as when his most advanced CCTV camera and alarm system woke him up around 12.30 Saturday / Sunday night, the neighbour informed the Branch Manager, a lady who then alerted the police.
As Saturday was a second Saturday closure of the branch, the thieves knew their crime would be noticed only on Monday and by then the hullabaloo of the theft would be dying.
Huge cash worth 10 lakhs of rupees was stolen from this branch in November 2024, just days ahead of the polling of the Vidhan Sabha election.
Mysteriously enough, then the thieves had found the chest keys right there on the table inside the bank!

It’s still not clear as to now the keys of the chest were left at night’ in the bank when it is mandated to be either with the bank manager or with the bank cashier.
The 10 lakh rupees theft of November 2024 remains uncracked till date.
