Dhanbad, July 3: The Coal India Limited (CIL) management again ignored the representation of the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) in a crucial meeting of the Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) meeting called on the bonus issue.
Four nationally recognized trade unions, Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), Hind Mazdoor Sabha (HMS), All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) and Central Industrial Trade Union (CITU) representatives had been invited to the meeting held at CIL headquarters in Kolkata on June 27.
INTUC national secretary and Rashtriya Colliery Mazdoor Union (RCMS) general secretary AK Jha said that it was a political move (he means under the direction of BJP-led central government) to ignore the INTUC but negotiation with the CIL management over-representation of INTUC is in the final stage and positive report will come soon.
Interestingly, last year on the order of the Calcutta High Court ( February 10, 2023) the INTUC was permitted to participate in the JBCCI meeting for NCW-XI agreement. Indian National Mines Workers Federation (INTUC) president Jayamangal Singh alias Anup Singh (MLA) represented the union at the meeting.

But eight months later (in October), the CIL management again ignored the INTUC in the Standardization Committee.
A senior leader of one of the four recognized national trade unions said that the Calcutta High Court had permitted INTUC only in the JBCCI meeting. With the agreement on NCW-XI, the role of INTUC spontaneously ended.
Due to a factional feud in INTUC and pending cases in different courts of the country between S Sanjeeva Reddy, Chandrashekhar Dubey and others over the INTUC organization, the CIL management held up representation of INTUC.
In 2022, a committee comprising Mallickaarjun Kharge (Karnataka) and Digvijay Singh (Madhya Pradesh) appointed by the then Cong national president Sonia Gandhi declared that the Sanjeeva Reddy faction is the real INTUC and recommended other factions should withdraw cases from courts, Chandrashekhar Dubey and other did not obey despite Sonia Gandhi’s directive.
A senior official of BCCL said that based on the court ruling, the CIL management will give representation to INTUC.
As per unofficial records, INTUC is the 3rd largest membership union in Coal India after HMS and BMS.
