SUBHASH MISHRA
Dhanbad, Dec 4: Communist Party of India-Marxist-Leninist (CPIML) MLA from Nirsa, Arup Chatterjee, announced today that his party would not join the cabinet in the coalition government led by Hemant Soren.
Speaking to the media at his Nirsa residence, Chatterjee emphasised his party’s commitment to the INDI Alliance while reiterating their decision to remain outside the ministry.
Chatterjee, a three-time MLA, stated, “It does not matter whether I become a minister or not, but the development of Nirsa and Dhanbad no one can stop.”
He stated that the people of Jharkhand gave a decisive mandate, ensuring Hemant Soren’s return as Chief Minister. He emphasized that voters choose leaders who maintain a strong connection with them, and this election reflected their trust in such leadership.
He added that the people of Jharkhand had voted for the INDI Alliance with a clear mandate, trusting Hemant Soren to continue as Chief Minister.

Cabinet Expansion and CPIML’s Stand
The expansion of Hemant Soren’s cabinet is expected to take place tomorrow, with representatives from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Congress, and RJD likely to join the ministry.
However, CPIML General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya has already announced that the party will not participate in the government, staying true to its ideological stance and independent approach.
The CPIML contested the assembly elections under the INDI Alliance coalition and secured two key seats: Nirsa (Arup Chatterjee) and Sindri (Babloo Mahto). Both constituencies were previously known as strongholds of the Marxist Coordination Committee (MCC), which merged with the CPIML on October 9 this year.
Arup Chatterjee’s victory over BJP’s Aparna Sengupta in Nirsa further solidified his standing as a leader who connects with the people. He highlighted that the electorate chose leaders who maintained strong ties with their communities, reflecting their trust in the CPIML’s vision for the state.
