Jamshedpur, Aug 8: A CRPF sub-inspector was injured in an IED blast under the Naxal-infested Chotanagra thana area in West Singhbhum on Thursday morning.
Airlifted to Ranchi for better treatment
The injured sub-inspector identified as Jitendra Dani belongs 209 battalion of CoBRA wing of the CRPF and has been airlifted to Ranchi for better medical treatment after being administered first aid at a local health hub.
The condition of the injured is stated to be stable.
IED blast during anti-insurgency operation
The blast was triggered at the infamous Baliba village bordering Jeraikela thana area in the morning which the CoBRA troopers were engaged in an anti-insurgency operation.

The police had got an intelligence input that the CPI-Maoist rebels were anchored in the dense forest in Chotanagra and Jeraikela thana area since Wednesday.
As the CoBRA jawans scanning through the forest, the IED blasted, causing the sub-inspector to get injured.
Immediately afterward, the fellow troopers rescued the injured and rushed him to a nearby government-run health hub where he was given the first aid. Soon after he was airlifted to Ranchi.
West Singhbhum SP, Ashutosh Sekhar confirmed about the IED blast which resulted in injury to a CoBRA sub-inspector.
29 CRPF jawan were killed in 2004 in Baliba village
It may be mentioned here that as many as 29 CRPF jawans were killed in an attack launched by Naxals at Baliba village on April 7 in 2004. In an encounter that followed the attack on a CRPF convoy, 12 Naxals were also gunned down.
