Daltonganj, July 14: There will be a cycle ride test for the fourth-grade employment in Daltonganj. A little over 35,000 applications for this recruitment of 585 posts have reached whose sorting and digitisation are underway.

Administrative sources said there is no communication from the state government in regard to the conduct of the written test. It’s still 10th pass marks.

And now, the 10th pass marks of 35,000 plus applicants are to be examined, which is in itself a gigantic task.

Sources said the administration is most likely to adopt a minimum cut-off marks so as to sift through the huge pile of applications.

Now, how to decide the cut off? It can be anything like 45, 50, 55, 60 per cent. Again, the cut off marks has to be 5 per cent down for the SC, ST, disabled, women and EWS applicants in comparison to the general category applicants.

Applicants Weigh In on Cut-Offs and Cycle Test Format

This Jharkhand Story correspondent spoke to a cross-section of applicants last week who were in the queue at the various branches of the post offices to know what they suggest for the cut off marks for 10th.

It was 45 per cent to start with, said a large number of the applicants. If the administration decides this, then applicants having below 45 per cent of marks will be out of the cycle ride test.

Again, cycle ride test for how many yards or meters? There is no point in having longer yards or meters. It’s no race, rather it is to see if the applicant knows how to peddle. Many applicants said a cycle ride test should be of 100 meters to 150 meters with Red flags pitched at both ends.

On applicants bringing in their own cycles, there were strong voices of its availability and arrangement by the administration. It should be optional. An applicant may ride his own cycle for test, and if he needs one from the administration, it should be there.

Again, there be cycles for women especially. Lady cycles have smaller frames than male ones.

Venues Identified Across Daltonganj for Cycle Test

Venue for the cycle ride test. It’s a big issue in itself. Nodal Officer of the fourth-grade employment M Jawed Hussain, who is the DDC Palamu, said, “There is an enormous quantity of applications. We believe multiple venues will help early completion of the cycle ride tests.”

There is Chianki air strip field as well as police line ground. Both the grounds can be put to use in the cycle ride test, Jawed Hussain opined.

There is another ground. It is in the Housing Colony Bairya More in Daltonganj. Here too cycle test ride can be done. Any ground fit for a political rally can be put to use for the cycle ride test in Daltonganj.

Zila School ground and Sahitya Samaj ground are there too. There is a Disneyland Mela in the spacious Shivaji Maidan, and so this ground is out of bounds.

Nodal Officer Jawed Hussain said, ” Every venue will have roll numbers. Applicants will have no problem in locating it.”

New Category for Distant Applicants

It’s to be seen if applications are to be identified by roll numbers allotted to blocks. Palamu has 21 blocks. Apart from this, there will be applications from outside Palamu. Applicants outside Palamu district or division are to be described as ‘distant applicants’ for which a new category is to be set up.

Sources said the administration will have to be on guard against any faking or duplication of the official admit card for the cycle ride test.

Whistle-blowing masters, grounds men will be required for the massive turnout for the cycle ride test, said sources. First aid unit is to be deployed at each of the cycle ride test venue.

It’s a cycle ride test for the applicants but it’s the efficiency test, in fact, for the administration. All recruitment process is to be done on or before upcoming August 9.
