Ramgarh, Jan. 2: A Dalit minor girl, 15 years, was allegedly raped in Patratu.
The friend of the rape victim has given a written application in this regard in the Patratu police station. She noted that she and her friend, both residents of the village Sankool Barwatola, visited Patratu Dam on New Year’s Day.
“We were returning home in the evening. We got down from a tempo near Manjhi Chowk and were going home on foot. Then, two boys came chasing us from behind. When we went near a school, two boys who were already there were seen standing there. Then, a boy went on an Apache motorcycle. The boy started catching both of us. He took me to one side, and on the other, my victim friend was dragged by Nitish Chaubey’s father, Bablu Chaubey, and taken near a Mahua tree”, she said.

“He forced her to have physical relations, and four boys were supporting him. Two boys tried to strangulate us. All the accused are residents of Khatal of Patratu police station area. They have threatened us and our family. My friend freed herself from the clutches of the miscreants and went to the adjacent house. She saved her life by hiding there,” she has said in her complaint.

Patratu police are investigating the whole matter after the application. The police are interrogating the youth who the villagers caught. The rest of the absconding youth are being searched.
The Bhuiya community has demanded an immediate death sentence for the rapists. People reached Patratu police station on Tuesday and protested against the incident.
In this regard, Patratu SDPO Dr Virendra Chaudhary said that the Patratu police station in-charge has informed that an incident of rape of a minor girl has taken place. An FIR has been registered under the POCSO and SC/ST Acts. A youth has been arrested.
