Jamshedpur, August 29: Dayanand Public School undertook a series of impactful green initiatives organized by its vibrant Eco Club.

The program was graced by distinguished guests Gian Taneja, Chairman, Siksha Samity, Rajiv Talwar, Vice Chairman, Siksha Samity, and other dignitaries, whose presence added immense value and inspired students to take forward the message of sustainable living.

The event began with a Tree Plantation Drive on the school campus, symbolizing the collective responsibility of nurturing nature for future generations.

Eco Club Moderator, Mousumy Bandopadhyay, highlighted the urgency of adopting sustainable habits, stressing how environmental degradation and rampant use of plastic threaten the planet.

Adding another dimension to sustainability, the school introduced an Organic Decomposition Pit to collect food waste, fruit peels, dry leaves, and other biodegradable matter.

This initiative will help convert organic waste into compost, thereby teaching students the importance of waste segregation and recycling while reducing the burden on landfills.

The campaign was further strengthened with the school’s declaration of a “No Plastic Zone.” Students participated in Slogan Writing and Poster Making Competitions on the theme “Ban Plastic – Save Earth.”

Chairman Gian Taneja praised the Eco Club’s initiatives and emphasized that true education must go hand-in-hand with awareness about environmental issues. Vice Chairman Rajiv Talwar also applauded the students’ efforts, appreciating how the school is instilling eco-conscious values through hands-on activities.

The day concluded with students taking a pledge to safeguard the environment, reduce plastic usage, and spread awareness about eco-friendly practices.

The school’s proactive steps echo the broader global mission of fighting plastic pollution and protecting our planet, making it a shining example of how educational institutions can lead meaningful change.
