Jharkhand News: DC inspects EVM warehouse in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Aug 26: District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner, Karn Satyarthi, conducted an inspection of the EVM warehouse located at Kitadih in Jamshedpur today.

During the inspection, he thoroughly reviewed the safety arrangements, maintenance of EVMs and VVPAT machines, CCTV surveillance, and record-keeping practices.

The DC instructed officials to ensure strict compliance with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

He emphasized that no laxity in security arrangements would be tolerated. The 24×7 functionality of CCTV cameras, timely backup of recordings, and their regular verification were deemed mandatory.

He also directed that the daily inspection register and logbook must be maintained transparently and updated regularly, with unauthorized access strictly prohibited.

Stressing the importance of accountability, he called for regular audits of security arrangements, time-bound reporting, and strengthening of a high-level monitoring mechanism to ensure transparency.

Representatives of various political parties were also present during the inspection.
