Jamshedpur, May 3: Cyber criminals have duped East Singhbhum deputy commissioner office’s head clerk of Rs 1.41 lakhs by using the deputy commissioner’s fake Facebook account.
In this connection, the victim Naveen Kumar has lodged an FIR with the Bistupur-based cyber thana, leading the police to begin an investigation.
Criminal introduced himself as DC’s friend
According to the FIR, Naveen Kumar had on April 28 morning received a Facebook message from deputy commissioner, Ananya Mittal, that one of his friends who is a CRPF officer was in great need of help and cooperation.
It had been said in the message that the officer was transferred from Jamshedpur just four months after his posting, but during his stay here he had bought several household articles from the local CRPF camp’s canteen, which he was willing to sell out.

According to the FIR, in the message, the deputy commissioner had given the cellphone number 702458769 of the said CRPF officer Sumeet Kumar and intimated that he (Sumeet Kumar) would contact him soon.
As was in the message, a call came a little afterwards and the caller introduced him to be the deputy commissioner’s friend before conveying that some of his household articles need to be sold.
The alleged CRPF officer had also sent the photographs of the articles along with the receipts for the perusal of the victim.
Victim paid Rs 1.41 lakhs via Google Pay
According to the FIR, as the request for helping Sumeet Kumar had come from a person not other than the deputy commissioner himself, he (the victim) wasted no time and arranged Rs 1.41 lakhs from his friends and paid the amount through Google Pay on the mobile number 7088970241.
But latter the victim could know that he was duped by the cyber criminals on the basis of a fake Facebook account made in the name of deputy commissioner Ananya Mittal.
