Deoghar, August 13: The Deoghar chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Dr. Satish Chandra Jha, former Civil Surgeon of Deoghar and ex-Regional Deputy Director (RDD) Health of the Santhal Pargana Division.
Dr. Jha, aged 73, passed away due to cardiac arrest in Hyderabad on August 8. Following the death of his wife, he had been residing with his son there.
Upon receiving news of his passing, IMA Deoghar organised a condolence meeting at its building, where members paid rich tributes and reflected on his notable contributions to healthcare in the district and the Santhal Pargana region before his retirement.

Career and Achievements in Public Health
Recalling his professional journey, IMA Deoghar secretary and Standing Committee member of the IMA national body, Dr. Gaurishankar, noted that Dr. Jha began his career as a medical officer in Koderma and served several years in Sarath block of Deoghar before becoming Civil Surgeon of the district.
During his tenure, he oversaw the shifting of Deoghar Sadar Hospital to its new building and introduced several healthcare initiatives aimed at improving services in rural areas.
Under his leadership, Deoghar received the Government of India’s prestigious ‘Kayakalp’ award, along with a cash prize of ₹50 lakh, for excellence in public health facilities.

Doctors Pay Tribute to a Respected Colleague
IMA Deoghar president and national vice-president elect Dr. Dhwantari Tiwari, IMA Jharkhand vice-president Dr. R.N. Prasad, vice-president Dr. Rajiv Kumar Pandey, treasurer Dr. N.C. Gandhi, senior members and several other doctors paid homage to Dr. Jha, remembering him as a dedicated and visionary health administrator.
