Jamshedpur, Oct 14: The dispute that began during the Jagriti Yatra, which started from Patna on September 25, has now snowballed into a serious controversy at the Sakchi Gurdwara.

The incident occurred when the Palki Sahib carrying the Guru Granth Sahib developed a technical fault and got stuck at the Gurdwara’s Darshani Deori. The delay reportedly led to an argument among the devotees, which soon turned into a violent altercation.

Amid the chaos, Hira Singh, a resident of Mango, tried to intervene but was allegedly assaulted. According to his wife, Ritu Kaur, Hira Singh sustained a serious head injury. He was first taken to MGM Hospital, Dimna, and later referred to RIMS, Ranchi, for advanced treatment due to the severity of his injuries.

Ritu Kaur has alleged that even though a video of the entire incident has surfaced, the police have not taken any action against the accused so far. She said she has been making repeated visits to the police station seeking justice, but “the perpetrators continue to roam freely.”

The accused have been identified as Khajan Singh, Shyam Singh, Satinder Singh Romi, Balbir Singh, Harpal Singh, Satnam Singh, and Harjeet Singh.

Demanding justice, Ritu Kaur urged the district administration and police to take strict and impartial action against those responsible for the assault on her husband.
