Dhanbad, June 26: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Dhanbad on Thursday arrested Anish Kumar, a computer operator posted at the Deputy Collector Land Reforms (DCLR) office, for taking a bribe of ₹15,000 to clear a land-related file.

The arrest took place around 12:25 PM after Kumar was caught red-handed by the ACB team while receiving the bribe from complainant Veerbahadur Singh. The operation was led by ACB Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Binod Kumar.

According to DSP Binod Kumar, the complainant’s application for land mutation had earlier been rejected at the circle office. When he attempted to resubmit the file at the DCLR office, Anish Kumar allegedly demanded ₹15,000 to process it.

“After receiving the complaint, we conducted a verification of the allegation. Once it was confirmed, a trap was laid. The complainant was sent with the marked currency, and the accused was apprehended immediately upon accepting the money,” said the DSP.
Following the arrest, the ACB team searched relevant files in the DCLR office. A search was also conducted at the residence of Anish Kumar. He was subsequently taken into custody for further interrogation.
