Dhanbad, Oct 9: The Dhanbad district administration has instructed Puja Pandal committees to complete the immersion of Durga idols by nightfall on October 13, without exception.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Madhvi Mishra and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) HP Janardhan conducted a security inspection at Puja Pandals in the Nirsa block on Wednesday. They asked local authorities to ensure strict implementation of the Peace Committee’s decisions.
Both officials emphasized that the immersion of Durga idols must be finished before dark on October 13.
“If the Election Model Code of Conduct comes into effect, Puja Committees will need to obtain fresh permission for the immersion processions,” the DC clarified.

Drone surveillance and emergency response teams
In Dhanbad, idol immersion has often been delayed until late evening or even postponed to the following day. However, this year, all idols must be immersed by the evening of October 13, and no delays will be tolerated.
During their inspection, the DC and SSP reviewed the availability of CCTV cameras, fire safety measures, and volunteer deployments at the pandals. They also directed the local authorities to ensure adequate security for female devotees within the pandals and their premises.
SSP HP Janardhan stated that special security arrangements have been made for all Puja Pandals in the district. An emergency response team, led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police, has been set up to handle any situations that arise.
“During peak hours of the Puja and the immersion process on October 13, drone surveillance will be used to monitor the proceedings,” Janardhan added.
