Over 22,000 railway employees working in the Dhanbad Rail Division of East Central Railway had prepared to hold massive demonstrations in their respective working places in support of their long pending demands.
“After withdrawing the Model Code of Conduct, Union leaders again held a meeting and decided on a fresh date for the demonstration. ECRKU, under the banner of a different federation, had earlier announced a nationwide rail strike on May 1 over the implementation of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), but they withdrew the decision after the railway ministry assured them it would set up a committee for assessment.
