Dhanbad, Aug 29: The Dhanbad District Table Tennis Association (DDTTA) celebrated National Sports Day on Friday at Nehru Sports Complex, Koyla Nagar, paying rich tributes to India’s legendary hockey icon Major Dhyan Chand on his birth anniversary.
Speaking on the occasion, Aman Raj, Chief Vigilance Officer of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) and president of DDTTA, said that the best tribute to Major Dhyan Chand would be to emulate his dedication and sporting spirit.

He reminded that National Sports Day is observed across the country on August 29 to honor the hockey wizard’s contribution to Indian sports.

DDTTA secretary and vice-president of the Jharkhand Olympic Association, Saket Sinha, also paid tribute and announced that the association will organize a month-long special coaching camp for budding table tennis players of the district.
The initiative aims to nurture young talent and prepare them for state and national-level competitions.

Office bearers of the association, including Ajay Mahajan, Kripa Shankar, and Shadab Ahmed, along with players from various age groups, also participated in the celebrations.
