Jamshedpur, Oct 5: The Eastern Zone ACBI Conference 2024 (EZACBICon24), organized under the aegis of the Association of Clinical Biochemists of India (ACBI), concluded successfully at Manipal Tata Medical College (MTMC), Jamshedpur.
The two-day event, held on October 4th and 5th, featured a vibrant pre-conference workshop and a one-day scientific conference that brought together leading experts, researchers, and students in the field of clinical biochemistry.
Advancements in Diagnostic Biochemistry
With the theme “Advancements in Diagnostic Biochemistry: Shaping the Future of Health Care,” the conference aimed to advance knowledge and practice in clinical biochemistry.
It was conducted by the Department of Biochemistry at MTMC in association with the Department of Biochemistry at MGM Medical College and Hospital, along with former Head of Biochemistry, Dr. Lakshman Lal.
Participants and experts from across the Eastern region gathered to discuss emerging trends, challenges, and innovations in the field.

Engaging pre-conference workshop
The event kicked off with an engaging online pre-conference workshop focusing on Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and electives in biochemistry.
Participants gained valuable insights into the latest developments, with interactive sessions fostering rich discussions on practical solutions and enhancing the overall learning experience.
Inauguration and dignitaries
The one-day scientific conference was formally inaugurated in the presence of dignitaries. The Organizing President of MTMC delivered the welcome address, setting the tone for the day’s proceedings.
The Dean of Manipal Tata Medical College and Chief Guest Dr. Pradeep Kumar Patra, a prominent figure in clinical biochemistry, addressed the gathering.
Dr. Rajiv Ranjan Sinha, Secretary of ACBI, spoke on behalf of the ACBI President, emphasizing the importance of continued education and research in advancing the field.

Keynote addresses and technical sessions
The conference featured a series of keynote addresses and technical sessions covering a range of relevant topics.
Distinguished speakers such as Dr. P.K. Patra, Dr. Jayashree Bhattacharya, Dr. Prakruti Dash, and Dr. Rajesh Jambhulkar underscored the need for continuous improvement in medical education, laboratory practices, and research in India. Their presentations highlighted the evolving role of biochemistry in teaching, diagnostics, and patient care.
Researchers and students were given the opportunity to present oral presentations, providing a platform for young scientists to showcase their work and engage with experts. Panel discussions and lively Q&A sessions enriched participants’ understanding and encouraged collaborative exploration of new ideas.
Dr. Vanita Lal, ACBI Zonal Council Member, was among the notable attendees who contributed to the success of the conference. Her presence, along with other guests, added significant value to the event’s objectives of fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
