Ranchi, May 10: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested the mastermind of a multi-crore GST scam, Shiv Kumar Dewda, along with his son Mohit Dewda and associate Amit Gupta. The trio was produced before a special ED court, which remanded them to judicial custody.

According to officials, the accused were apprehended from Kolkata on Friday following an extensive raid operation that began on May 8.

The ED found that Shiv Kumar Dewda, using his influence, created multiple fake companies under different names to fraudulently claim Input Tax Credit (ITC) benefits.

During searches at their Kolkata premises, investigators recovered incriminating documents showing large-scale misuse of GST provisions.

The ED’s probe revealed that Mohit Dewda was actively involved in the racket, generating bogus invoices in collaboration with his father and Amit Gupta to fake purchases and sales of goods.

Sources confirmed that the three were part of an organized network aimed at siphoning off tax benefits using fictitious firms. The investigation is ongoing, and further arrests are not ruled out.
