Ramgarh, Jan 4: An electrician died due to electrocution while repairing a fault on a pole near Khaira Manjhi Chowk in the Patratu police station area on Thursday.

The deceased, Rajendra Kumar Ravi (51 years), is a resident of Shanti Mohalla, Patratu. After the death, there is resentment in Patratu block headquarters regarding jobs and compensation to the family of the deceased.

Rajendra Kumar Ravi, an electrician from a private agency looking after the work under Jharkhand Electricity Distribution Corporation Limited, climbed the pole on Thursday morning to carry out repairs at Bawandhara near Khaira Manjhi Chowk. In this sequence, the local terminal got hit by the current flowing in the line. With a jerk, he fell from the pole, causing a severe head injury.

He was immediately taken to the Community Health Centre located at Patratu Block Office, where he was declared dead.

After the incident, family members and local people gathered in the block headquarters premises. While the family members of the deceased were in distress after the accident, the local people demanded a job and compensation for the dependents of the dead, terming it as gross negligence of the electricity department.
