Dhanbad, April 15: Tata Steel Jharia Division today began a week-long celebration of the National Fire Service here in Jamadoba on Monday.
Sanjay Rajoria, general manager of Jharia Division at Tata Steel, inaugurated the function and emphasised the importance and relevance of observing National Fire Safety Week.
On the occasion he advised the fire safety team of the organization to maintain the good work being provided by them.

The theme for this year’s National Fire Service is “Ensure Fire Safety, Contribute towards Nation Building”.

The safety and security department of the Division has planned to organise several awareness programmes and training sessions on fire safety, mock drills with the government’s fire team. Hold training on the use of fire extinguishers and rescue techniques for employees, contractor workers, school children, and the community to make them self-sufficient for any emergencies.
Senior officials present on the occasion were Narendra Kumar Gupta, chief (Jamadoba group), Barun Banerjee, head (safety), Col Bhawani Singh Nirwan, head (administration), Kousik Gayen, head (planning), and Sujit Kumar Jha, senior area manager (security), Jharia Division, Tata Steel.
An official said National Fire Service Week is observed every year from April 14 to 20 to commemorate the 71 brave firemen who lost their lives fighting the fire that broke out on the freighter SS Fort Stikine at the Victorian Dock, then known as Bombay Port, on April 14, 1944.
