Jamshedpur, Jan 23: Former president of the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ashok Bhalotia, died in Kolkata early this morning.
He was 65 and was suffering from liver cancer. He passed away at around 4 am today during the course of treatment at a hospital in Kolkata.
According to family sources, the last rites will be conducted here tomorrow. The body will be brought today from Kolkata and will be kept at the morgue of Tata Main Hospital.

Ashok Bhalotia, a noted businessman of Steel City was also into various social and welfare activities. He served as the president of Kolhan’s largest trade body Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry between 2017 and 2021.
The news of his sudden death had sent shock waves among the business fraternity of Jamshedpur.
“Whenever we used to approach him he was ready to help us. His death is a great loss for us and the business community here. We will miss him,” said Vijay Anand Moonka, current president of the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
