Dhanbad, Feb 3: A Gujarat police team rescued a 16-year-old girl from Jharia in Dhanbad district and arrested the youth who had allegedly abducted her from Surat’s Dadali area four months ago, officials said.
Acting on intelligence, a Gujarat police team led by Sub-Inspector Sanjay Bhai Maya Bhai, with assistance from Jharia police, raided a house in Jharia’s Chouthaikuli area on Sunday evening. The minor was safely recovered, and the accused was apprehended on the spot.
Legal Formalities Delay Transfer to Gujarat
Following the rescue, Gujarat police intended to immediately take both the minor and the accused back to Surat. However, as their team lacked a female police officer, the Dhanbad District Child Welfare Committee (CWC) intervened.
CWC Chairman Uttam Mukherjee ensured the girl was sent to a shelter home after a medical examination.

“For now, the girl has been placed in a shelter home. Once a female police officer arrives from Surat, she will be allowed to leave after a court order,” Mukherjee stated.
Police Investigation and FIR Details
According to SI Sanjay Bhai Maya Bhai, the girl, a resident of Nawagaon under Didoli police station in Surat district, was abducted by an unidentified individual. An FIR was lodged on November 16 under Section 172(C) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
During the investigation, Surat police received information that the girl was being held in Jharia, leading to the successful rescue operation.
