Jamshedpur, Nov 1: Home voting for senior citizens aged 85 and above and voters with at least 40% disability will begin on November 2 for the 45-Ghatshila (ST) Assembly By-election.

The initiative ensures easy access for voters who face mobility challenges, enabling them to cast their votes from home through postal ballots.

According to the District Election Officer, Karn Satyarthi, who is also the East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner (DC), home voting will take place in two phases — from November 2 to 7 and again from November 9 to 10.

Designated polling teams will visit eligible voters at their residences to conduct the process securely and transparently.

Meanwhile, postal ballot voting for officials and personnel engaged in election duties, essential services, and law enforcement has already started at the Facilitation Centre located at the Women’s University, Jamshedpur.

Voting began on October 30, and within two days, 117 voters — including 56 on the first day and 61 on the second — exercised their franchise.

As per the Postal Ballot Cell, voting at the facilitation centre will continue on October 30–31, November 3–4, and November 6–8 for government staff, drivers, conductors, and videographers.

Essential service providers (AVES category) can cast their postal ballots between November 5 and 11, while officers and employees deputed at the Returning Officer’s office in Ghatshila will vote from November 8 to 10.

The District Election Office has reiterated its commitment to ensuring smooth, accessible, and inclusive polling ahead of the November 11 by-election.
