Dhanbad, February 19: The chemical engineering department of IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad celebrated ‘Research Day’ to promote an active and vibrant research environment on the campus.
Prof JK Pattanayak, Director of IIT ISM, was the chief guest at the function. While addressing he motivated the department’s students to seek higher pinnacles in their research activities and advised them to avoid getting afraid of the associated challenges.

Impressed by the initiative of the chemical engineering department, Prof. JK Pattanayak, who is also the Patron of the programme, emphasized the need for such a programme and suggested that every department should hold this.
Prof. Aditya Kumar, head of the Department of Chemical Engineering, while welcoming the guests, highlighted the motivation for such a dedicated research day.

Prof. Sagar Pal, Dean (R&D) of the institute, also praised the department for all its achievements.
PhD scholars
During the function, the PhD scholars and MTech students, as well as the postdoctoral researchers of the department, showcased their research journey and salient outcomes to the research fraternity of the department.
Altogether, fifteen speakers shared the details about their research progress through oral presentations during the programme. Apart from this, there were also eight poster presentations during the programme to showcase the various research trajectories that MTech and PhD scholars of the department have been following.
The programme concluded after the prize distribution, hoping to become an annual department event, with increased participation and enthusiasm.
