Dhanbad, July 16: IIT ISM Dhanbad director Prof Sukumar Mishra called upon the PhD students to carry out, research in Interdisciplinary areas to excel and achieve the goals.
Orientation of newly enrolled PhD scholars
Prof Mishra, who was addressing the orientation programme of newly enrolled PhD scholars at Penman Auditorium of IIT (ISM) today, advised them to develop good interpersonal relations with everyone, right from roommates to lab mates, faculty members and staff.
“The quality of research at the institute and its acceptability among people helps in perception building for any institute,” the director said.
A total of 332 research scholars out of 347 attended the orientation programme and got details about the legacy, facilities, infrastructure, high-tech labs and others of the institute.

Professors brief students about institute and curriculum
Prof Rajni Singh, dean of corporate communications of the institute gave details of the existing infrastructure and facilities of IIT ISM.
Prof MK Singh, dean academic, in his address asked the research scholars it is time to do hard work with patience as it requires continuous and consistent effort to complete the course successfully.
Prof SK Gupta, dean, students welfare gave details of the sporting facilities and cultural and sporting activities organized throughout the year. He emphasized on the need to maintain good health by engaging in sporting activities to excel in life and career.
Prof Sagar Pal, dean of research and development, in his address gave details of the research and development infrastructure at the institute.
Prof Amit Dixit, dean (infrastructure) gave details of existing infrastructure as well the upcoming facilities.
Dr Ajay Mandal, the professor in charge library, informed about the existing books, journal stocks, book borrowing facilities, reading rooms, cafeteria etc.
