Dhanbad, July 15: A team of IIT ISM, Dhanbad under Prof Rashmi Singh, assistant professor, Department of Management Studies and Industrial Engineering visited Eklavya Model Residential Girls’ School (EMRS) Kujra in Lohardaga district and apprised the tribal girl about the benefit of computer training in today’s era.
Over 200 tribal girl students of EMRS Kujra are being imparted technical training.
The team comprising Prof Niladri Das, associate professor of the department, also took the feedback from students of class X, XI and XII about the online training being imparted to tribal students since July 1, 2024.
Prof Rashmi Singh, coordinator of the Centre of Excellence and the principal investigator of the project said that one year course is being conducted online and hybrid.

Reading material in Hindi and the Santhal language of the program has already been delivered to the students.
“Two theory classes and four practical sessions in a week are held and assignments are also being given to the students every week to test their understanding. Close monitoring & supervision will be done for the effective completion of the assignments,” said Prof Singh.
Prof Singh said all this is being done in coordination with the computer/ICT teachers of the EMRS schools. The institute experts are scheduled to visit the centre in the physical mode to conduct problem-solving sessions.
Information technology and computer training is being conducted at altogether seven EMRSs including, EMRS Kathijoria, EMRS Godda, EMRS Ranchi, EMRS Kujra in Lohardaga, EMRS Dumka, EMRS West Singhbhum and EMRS Bhogandih by the Centre of Excellence for tribal development at IIT (ISM).
Amrita Mishra, principal of the school, and Manju Kumari, computer teacher, who was also present during the physical classes informed that the students are taking keen interest in the classes and regularly attending the training session.
