Jamshedpur, July 9: Saumya Deep, a Jamshedpur-based engineer renowned for his expertise in mechanical engineering and renewable energy, has unveiled a pioneering invention in the field of energy storage.

Currently serving as the administrator of Vivekananda International School, Saumya has garnered attention since 2004 when his ‘Weather Control System’ concept earned recognition from former President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

Saumya recently achieved a major milestone by patenting a groundbreaking process aimed at enhancing the efficiency and storage capacity of Flywheel Energy Storage Systems (FESS).

The patent, titled “A Process to make over Unity Efficiency Flywheel,” was officially recognized on June 19, 2024, at the Boudhik Sampada Bhavan in Kolkata and subsequently published in the National Official Journal of the Patent Office on July 5, 2024.

Flywheel Energy Storage Systems are mechanical devices crucial for storing energy in the form of rotational kinetic energy. They play a pivotal role in the global quest for efficient large-scale energy storage solutions, particularly to optimize the utilization of renewable energy sources by storing excess energy for later use.

Breakthrough could revolutionize FESS tech with ‘Over Unity Efficiency’

Saumya Deep asserts that his newly developed process can revolutionize FESS technology by significantly boosting both storage capacity and output efficiency.

He claims to have mathematically proven the achievement of ‘Over Unity Efficiency,’ where the energy output surpasses the energy input—an assertion that challenges conventional understandings governed by the second law of thermodynamics.

If validated, this breakthrough could potentially pave the way for abundant, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly energy solutions.

The public disclosure of this patented process marks a significant step forward. Saumya Deep is now focused on translating his theoretical advancements into practical applications and aims to collaborate with leading academic institutions to advance this technology further. Due to Intellectual Property Protocols, detailed specifications of the patent remain confidential at this stage.
