Jharkhand News: Jeevan to organise refresher training programme for volunteers in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: In a bid to bolster the proficiency of its volunteers, the Jamshedpur-based suicide prevention centre, Jeevan, is set to host a comprehensive two-day refresher training programme commencing on March 16 and 17th, 2024, at SNTI.

P K Ghose, Managing Director, JAMIPOL LTD, will inaugurate the training programme.

Spearheaded by Shankar Narayanan, former national coordinator of Befrienders India, alongside Manjit, an esteemed trainer from Kolkata, also the current Treasurer of Befrienders India, the training aims to equip participants with enhanced skills and strategies crucial in dealing with individuals grappling with depression, stress and suicidal tendencies.

35 volunteers to participate

Approximately 35 dedicated volunteers from Jeevan are slated to partake in the training, where they will receive specialized instruction on empathetic communication techniques, crisis intervention methods, and practical approaches to provide emotional support to those in mental distress.

The program underscores Jeevan’s unwavering commitment to fostering a supportive environment and actively contributing to suicide prevention efforts within the community.

Jeevan, recognized as a beacon of hope, has consistently endeavoured to extend compassionate assistance to individuals facing mental health challenges.

Emphasizing the importance of collective support, the organization urges every citizen of Jharkhand to play a proactive role in raising awareness and promoting mental well-being.

For individuals encountering mental health issues or in need of emotional support, Jeevan offers a lifeline of assistance, available 365 days a year from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Confidentiality is guaranteed, ensuring a safe space for individuals to seek help without fear of judgment or stigma. Their services are totally free.
