Jamshedpur, Feb 20: Following the instructions of Potka MLA Sanjiv Sardar, a delegation of JMM (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha) leaders met the General Manager of Tata Steel UISL on Thursday to submit two memorandums demanding cleanliness and drinking water supply in 19 Panchayats of the Jamshedpur block under the Potka assembly constituency.

Urgent need for cleanliness in 19 Panchayats

The first memorandum focused on the urgent need for cleanliness in 19 Panchayats, including West Bagbera, North Bagbera, Central Bagbera, Bagbera Colony, South Bagbera, East Bagbera, North East Bagbera, North Kitadih, West Kitadih, East Kitadih, North Susnigadia, North Karandih, South Karandih, East Ghaghidih, North Ghaghidih, Central Ghaghidih, West Ghaghidih, South Ghaghidih, and Pudihasa.

MLA Sanjiv Sardar stated in the memorandum that during his area visits, local residents complained about accumulated garbage in vegetable markets, drains, and public areas, leading to waterlogging and unhygienic conditions, particularly during the rainy season. These unsanitary conditions raise concerns about the spread of infectious diseases such as dengue and malaria, causing fear among the residents.

The memorandum urged Tata Steel UISL to ensure proper cleaning in the affected Panchayats at the earliest. Taking the demand seriously, the General Manager of Tata Steel UISL assured the delegation that cleaning work would begin soon to address the sanitation issues.

Drinking water shortage in 15 Panchayats

In another memorandum, the delegation raised the issue of acute drinking water shortage affecting 15 Panchayats in the Jamshedpur block, especially during the summer season from March to June.

The affected Panchayats include West Kitadih, North Kitadih, East Kitadih, West Bagbera, South Bagbera, North East Bagbera, Central Bagbera, East Bagbera, Bagbera Colony, South Karandih, North Karandih, North Ghaghidih, East Ghaghidih, West Ghaghidih, and Central Ghaghidih.

MLA Sanjiv Sardar pointed out that although two drinking water tankers have been provided from his MLA fund, they are insufficient to meet the water demands of the population. He urged Tata Steel UISL to arrange at least six additional water tankers to combat the water scarcity in these areas.

The memorandum emphasized the urgent need to ensure adequate drinking water supply and requested timely action from Tata Steel UISL, with a follow-up report to the MLA.
