Dhanbad, June 19: Junior Doctors Network (JDN) has urged the state government to revise the honorarium amount of senior residents (SR) and stipend of post graduate (PG ) students for streamlining health services.

JDN, the frontal organization of junior doctors formed by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has also demanded a relaxation in 3 years bond for mandatory service.

At present senior residents are paid Rs 80,000 in which Rs 8,000  are deducted and they receive only Rs 72,000. Same time their counterpart at RIMS draw Rs1.25 lakh per month.

Similarly, Post Graduate students get stipend only Rs 54,500 (in 1st year), 58,500 (in 2nd year) and Rs 63,500 (in 3rd year).

JDN secretary Dr Raghvendra Kumar said that we do not have any objection from payment of RIMS senior residents but we  urge the government to revise the present honorarium and increase the amount besides making it  tax free.

3-year service bond makes life of female SR complex

Three years of service bond has made life of a female senior resident complex. Most of them prefer marriage after settlement for which they have to  wait 14 to 15 years.

At present a  MBBS  student has to spend  more than  12 years in completing  the medical course .( four years in  graduation, one year in internship , three years in PG and  three years bond service). It is not assured he or she will get a job duly after completing  3 years bond service. It will take time to settle. Thus she will have to wait for 15 years  for marriage.

So, JDN has urged the government  to  think over relaxation in service bonds keeping the life career of  senior residents in mind”, said the JDN secretary.

Stipend payment of RIMS students held up

Stipend payment of RIMS PG students  is held up without any reason by management  but at the same  time students of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial  Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH) Jamshedpur have been cleared.

In the 2022-25  session after upgradation in faculty some students of MGMMCH went to RIMS Ranchi while some RIMS students went MGMMCH Jamshedpur. Some of the RIMS students remained  in RIMS after faculty upgradation.

Interestingly RIMS management has held up their stipend. A delegation of  JDN  met d the then RIMS director  in this regard but no stipend was  started.
