Karim City College student dies in road mishap near Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, April 14: An 18-year-old youth was fatally injured as the motorcycle he was riding skidded off the road at Dobo under Kapali thana outpost in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district near Jamshedpur on Monday morning.

Identified as Mohammed Zunaid, a resident of Millat Nagar in Jugsalai, the mishap victim had sustained a grievous head injury due to the fall.  His friends who were riding separate bikes rushed him to Tata Main Hospital where the doctors on emergency duty declared him as brought dead.

Zunaid was a bright student of Karim City College and had come out of his home informing the family members that he was going to Dobo along with his friends.

Lack of Helmet Proves Deadly

According to the victim’s friends, they had planned to go to the Dobo Dam after a joyride on the Dobo-Kanderbera road. But the victim had suddenly accelerated the speed during the joyride and lost control of the bike which deviated from the road before falling into a khud.

As like others, Zunaid did not wear a helmet, his head rammed into a boulder in the khud, causing the fatal head injury.

A pall of gloom descended at Millat Nagar as the news of Zunaid’s death reached in the densely-populated area there.

It may be mentioned here that ever since the Domuhani bridge was set up over Kharkai in Sonari, paving the way for a new road — Dobo-Kanderbera road — youngsters from the steel city tend to visit the area for merry-making. The incident of fatal road mishaps and drowning deaths either beneath the Domuhani bridge or at the Dobo dam has become regular.
