Daltonganj, July 2: Severe surge in mailing for the 585 posts of the fourth-grade employment in Palamu, the last date of which is July 5, has crumbled the delivery system of the Pradhan Dak Ghar (Head Post Office) on Wednesday.
It has come as a real shock on Wednesday since the Pradhan Dak Ghar in Daltonganj presented great efficiency in handling hundreds of applicants quite smoothly on Tuesday.
According to the District Employment Officer Dhananjay Kumar “No delivery either of registered post or of the speed post booked for this office on Tuesday by the applicants reached this office till 3.45 pm on Wednesday.”

Kumar was quite surprised as to why there has come no postal bag of delivery of mails even till 3.45 pm on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Palamu’s booking was 7,000, Garhwa 2,000 and Latehar 1700 as officially stated by the Postal Superintendent S K Sangam.
Postal Authorities Caught Off Guard
When this correspondent brought this issue of no delivery of any mail to the District Employment Office till 3.45 pm Wednesday, Postal Superintendent Sangam sounded as flabbergasted as the District Employment Officer, saying, “What no delivery done till the hour that you mentioned! Let me see. Let me find out.”
Sangam sounded not only concerned but disturbed too, following this lackadaisical attitude towards the delivery, which in such an emergency situation ought to have been swift and prompt and faster and also when the Independent Delivery Centre has been put in place since July 1.
To add more woes to the postal department, Kachehrey sub post office on Wednesday went total dry of the IPOs and stamps.
Stamp and IPO Shortage Adds to Applicant Woes
Applicants are to incorporate 26 rupees stamp affixed envelope with full address of the applicant, with their duly filled in application forms and here the crisis of stamp has adversely affected the applicants as back address envelope having no 26 rupees worth stamp will deprive the applicants the chance of getting call letter for cycle test ride which is a mandated test for the recruitment of fourth grade employment in Palamu.
