Jamshedpur, Sept 18: A 40-year-old was seriously injured on being fired upon at suburban Gandhi Nagar under Bagbera thana area in the early hours today.
The victim Popa Munda received two bullets and was rushed to Tata Main Hospital by the family members.
While Munda was in deep slumber, an acquaintance identified as Badal knocked the door, and someone in the family opened the door past midnight.

As soon as the door was opened, Badal stormed into the house and fired two shots at the sleeping Munda. Having carried out the gun-shot attack, the assailant fled.

As a result of the incident, the family members screamed in panic, leading neighbours to rush to the spot. The injured was subsequently rushed to the hospital.
The incident had triggered sensation in the slum, leading someone to inform the police. A police party from the Bagbera thana turned up, immediately followed by the DSP (Law and Order) Tauqir Alam.
The police inspected the crime scene and recovered an empty cartridge from the spot.
Having talked to the family members, the police pointed out that the gunshot attack might be the reason for some dispute between the injured and the attacker, adding that the reason will be clear after they take a statement from the victim.

The victim is stated to be out of danger now as both shots had escaped any vital part of his body.
The police are trying to arrest the accused by conducting raids at his house and also at probable places of his hiding.
