Dhanbad, March 10: A high-level district administration team suddenly searched the Dhanbad jail on Sunday.
An official said the team conducted a comprehensive search operation for more than two hours in all wards, prisoners’ rooms, hospital wards, and jail premises. One mobile charger, a scissors, nail cutters, and Chilam were recovered.
Raids on directive of new DC
“On the directive of new deputy commissioner (DC) Madhvi Mishra, the high-level team comprising superintendent of police (city) Ajit Kumar, superintendent of police ( Rural) Kapil Choudhary, executive magistrate Ravindra Kumar, circle officers ( CO) of Putki, Jharia, and block development of Tundi conducted the raid in Dhanbad jail in the morning,” the official said.
The district administration official said it was a routine inspection, and recovered items were handed over to the jail superintendent.
After the killing on December 3, 2023 incident in which Uttar Pradesh gangster Aman Singh was shot dead in the hospital ward of jail, the security of Dhanbad jail has been tightened. Gangster Aman Singh was also accused of Dhanbad’s former deputy mayor murder case.
